UCL Accommodation allocates approximately 8,000 beds across London every year. At UCL, we want to provide you with a home away from home, where you will feel comfortable and supported. As a resident in UCL halls, you can join in weekly activities and events organised in your hall, as part of Flourish, our residential life programme. In UCL halls, we have Student Residence Advisers (SRAs), who are there to provide pastoral support, signpost residents to UCL support services, and help students settle into university life.

Our teams manage museums, theatres, collections and facilitate engagement. We bring diverse performers and audiences into the heart of UCL to energise the student experience and fuel UCL’s creative culture with cutting edge cultural experiences.

Translation Studies

We offer two Masters programmes, MA Translation and MSc Translation and Technology, both of which give you the opportunity to develop translation and language skills.

The Translation and Culture/Translation Studies MA programme is particularly suitable for graduates with a language and culture degree who wish to develop practical translation skills in more than one language, along with an understanding of theoretical aspects of translation, for professional development or further research in this field. The Research MA programme is particularly suitable for graduates in a language and culture subject who are ultimately aiming to undertake a PhD and wish to conduct an in-depth study of a specific topic in translation and intercultural studies. A sound knowledge of at least one language other than English is essential. The MA is truly interdisciplinary, with access to experts in an unrivalled variety of languages and disciplines from across Europe and further afield. This allows students to customise their own programmes in relation to their language competencies and other academic and professional interests.

The MSc is suitable for both practitioners and recent graduates looking to specialise in the fields of audiovisual translation, accessibility to the media and translation technology; scientific, medical and technical translation; translation, interpreting and translation technology; as well as for those aiming for a research degree and/or academic career. MSc pathways are only offered in specific language pairs and directions. In line with industry standards, MSc students are only allowed to translate from a language they are proficient in (Advanced level) into their mother tongue or native language.
